This year, Îles-de-la-Madeleine is receiving more than $62,500 to improve the care journey and overall health of children in the region.
Enfant Soleil helps more than 100 healthcare facilities across the province and provides invaluable support to the four major pediatric centres, which give specialized and sub-specialized care to any child who needs it.

Video laryngoscope
- This device lets the surgical team clearly see the patient’s airways with the built-in camera, helping provide safer care adapted to children.
Jeunesse l’Envol program
- A portion of the funds will also go toward the Jeunesse l’Envol program, which supports families and facilitates access to care, especially invaluable when a child’s condition requires specialized treatment in one of the province’s major pediatric centres.
Helping grown-ups improve young lives
Discover the projects financed by the Sport and Sustainable Health Fund (SSHF)
The SSHF aims to promote and support healthy lifestyle habits in children through sports, physical activity and healthy eating while also fostering emotional and mental well-being. This fund will help two organizations in the region carry out their projects:
Sports equipment
- Sports and sensory equipment, such as balance circuits, bicycles and sensory tables, support children’s overall development by working their motor skills, balance and coordination and stimulating their senses and curiosity through active play. They help children regulate their energy and emotions while building their autonomy and confidence.
Balls and sports equipment
- The students will be able to enjoy a fun and active playground with the addition of a basketball net, basketballs and soccer balls, as well as a complete set of hockey equipment. Through play, they will develop essential social skills, like cooperation and healthy competition, and learn to follow the rules of the game and to lose graciously, all while channelling their energy in a positive way.

Jacob Boudreau, Enfant Soleil for Îles-de-la-Madeleine
Jacob and his family are brilliant ambassadors who courageously share their story and reality.
An energetic and determined child, Jacob’s life changed during a Zodiac outing with his friends when he fell overboard and was struck by the propeller. He sustained serious injuries, including a major skull fracture and a deep laceration. He had to be airlifted to CHUL in Québec City, where complex surgery had to be performed to relieve pressure on his brain. Placed in a medically induced coma, his future was uncertain. Beating all odds, Jacob woke up and embarked on an impressive rehabilitation journey. In just nine days, he left the rehabilitation centre, exceeding medical expectations. Although his right hand remains affected and he has epileptic seizures, he has resumed his activities with the support of his family and continues his rehabilitation.
