This year, Laval is receiving more than $57,000 to improve the care journey and overall health of children in the region.
Enfant Soleil helps more than 100 healthcare facilities across the province and provides invaluable support to the four major pediatric centres, which give specialized and sub-specialized care to any child who needs it.
Spotlight on a project promising beautiful things on the horizon
Centre d’expertise régional à l’enfance et à la famille
When a child is going through a difficult situation, they need a reassuring environment where they can feel safe and heard. The Centre d’expertise régional à l’enfance et à la famille (CEReF) will be receiving a $100,000 contribution from Enfant Soleil over two years, specifically for the development of a medical consultation room and a therapy room. This contribution is part of a larger project to create welcoming and adapted spaces in which more than 500 children who are victims of abuse can receive all the support they and their families need under one roof. A team of medical, psychosocial and legal experts will work together to provide compassionate, coordinated support that respects each child’s pace and needs.
The spaces have been designed to instill calmness and confidence: a private waiting room, a motor skill room to release tension, an integrated medical clinic and virtual court appearance options to reduce the stress of travel and having to attend in person. By gathering all of these services under one roof, the CERef makes the child the focus of the intervention. This project will ensure smoother and more consistent case management, limit sources of stress and support parents so that they can, in turn, support their child throughout the process.
Helping grown-ups improve young lives
Discover a projet financed by the Sport and Sustainable Health Fund (SSHF)
The SSHF aims to promote and support healthy lifestyle habits in children through sports, physical activity and healthy eating while also fostering emotional and mental well-being. This fund will help the Centre communautaire Val-Martin carry out its project for a total of $7,000:
Materials for the multisensory relaxation room
- These materials will give children living with sensory hypersensitivities, emotional regulation difficulties or special needs a comfortable, safe and easily accessible place where they can take the time to regain a sense of calm before continuing their activities and having fun.

Mikaële Laure Persona, Enfant Soleil for Laval
Mikaële Laure and her family are brilliant ambassadors who courageously share their story and reality.
Mikaële Laure spent the first 18 months of her life at the Montreal Children’s Hospital. During this long period, her daily life revolved around machines, consultations and medical routines. In the first few days of her life, specialists discovered a mass on her arm, then others on her head, belly and neck. The latter was compressing her throat and complicating her breathing, requiring rapid intervention. After being placed on a respirator, she finally had to undergo a tracheotomy, which involved making an opening in her throat to help her breathe better. At one and a half years old, she was finally able to go home. Six years later, major airway reconstruction surgery changed her life. Today, Mikaële Laure can breathe on her own, goes to school and dances with passion, surrounded by the love of her family. “Thanks to cutting-edge care and equipment, Mikaële Laure can live a fulfilling life. Thank you to everyone who donates.” —Rachelle, Mikaële Laure’s mother
