This year, Mauricie is receiving more than $145,000 to improve the care journey for children in the region.
Enfant Soleil helps more than 100 healthcare facilities across the province and provides invaluable support to the four major pediatric centres, which give specialized and sub-specialized care to any child who needs it.

1 pediatric resuscitation cart
- Essential in a life-threatening emergency, this cart ensures a rapid response and precise, safe and effective care thanks to optimal organization of the necessary equipment.
1 immobilization chair
- With this chair, the radiology department will be able to perform faster and gentler imaging, turning a potentially distressing experience for small patients into a quick and safe process.
1 bilirubinometer
- Jaundice affects approximately 60% of full-term newborns and up to 80% of premature babies. Jointly funded by Enfant Soleil and Santé Québec*, this device will be used during postnatal home visits to quickly, gently and safely screen newborns for jaundice by measuring the level of bilirubin in their blood.
1 video naso-pharyngo-laryngoscope
- Suited to their size and designed to reduce discomfort and anxiety, this device makes it possible to carefully examine the inside of a child’s throat, nose and larynx with a camera. This contributes to a rapid diagnosis and appropriate management of medical issues like voice disorders, sleep apnea and infections.
*2025–2026 funding made possible through an agreement initiated with the ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux.
1 ball chair and 4 chairs with footrests
- These new chairs will ensure that children are safely and comfortably seated, encouraging their concentration and engagement during assessments and follow-ups.
Screening, assessment and training tools
- The medical teams will receive special training and tools to perform various diagnostic assessments, adequately meet patient needs and better refer patients to services adapted to their needs.
4 vital sign monitors
- These devices make it possible to monitor children’s vital signs in real time and ensure more responsive and tailored management. Thanks to the data obtained, the care teams can easily track changes in a patient’s state of health and quickly adjust care as needed.

Helping grown-ups improve young lives

Murphy Valois, Enfant Soleil for Mauricie
Murphy and her family are brilliant ambassadors who courageously share their story and reality.
At just four months old, Murphy had her first epileptic seizure, setting her family in a race against time to protect her young brain. Since birth, her development has been a cause for concern, and she has had to have several treatments and a hospital stay from an early age. In 2022, she was finally diagnosed with an extremely rare disease: ZMYND11 syndrome, which explains her motor, cognitive and behavioural challenges. Some 50 cases have been identified worldwide. Today, Murphy is making progress with her motor skills, but does not speak yet. She does, however, manage to communicate with her big blue eyes and gestures that are well known to her parents.
