For the health of our little sunshines in Montérégie

March 31, 2026

This year, Montérégie is receiving more than $382,000 to improve the care journey and overall health of children in the region.

Enfant Soleil helps more than 100 healthcare facilities across the province and provides invaluable support to the four major pediatric centres, which give specialized and sub-specialized care to any child who needs it.

Spotlight on a project promising beautiful things on the horizon

Hôpital Charles-Le Moyne reached a major milestone in its history with the recent inauguration of a new pediatric medical day centre. This centre makes it possible to more effectively provide general pediatric care while improving access to essential community-based services. It is changing the care pathway for children in the region by giving access to the right care, at the right place and time.

Each year, nearly 4,500 children will be able to be seen in a safe, reassuring environment. The new centre helps avoid emergency room visits, reduces hospitalizations and improves follow-up. Families will now have better access to specialist consultations and outpatient treatments, including enhanced pediatric allergology services, while helping train the next generation of healthcare professionals in a university setting. With spaces fully adapted to pediatric patients, the day centre offers a more compassionate, gentler and better-coordinated care experience. This project was made possible thanks to $250,000 in funding from Enfant Soleil and Santé Québec*.

A $17,100 grant will be used to purchase essential medical equipment, such as vital sign monitors, otoscopes, ophthalmoscopes and an examination table.

*2025–2026 funding made possible through an agreement initiated with the ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux.

Helping grown-ups improve young lives

“This day centre, made possible through the generosity of Fondation Hôpital Charles-LeMoyne and Enfant Soleil’s donors, and with support from Santé Québec, allows us to approach treatment differently and to offer care tailored to children in an environment designed for them, while preventing hospitalizations. Édouard St-Laurent, Enfant Soleil for Montérégie

Édouard and his family are brilliant ambassadors who courageously share their story and reality.

At age 17, Édouard was leading an active life between school, friends and volleyball. In January 2024, he began feeling unusually tired and had a persistent cough, but this did not immediately worry his family. That all changed a few days later, when, in the ER of his regional hospital, his condition quickly became critical, starting a race against time. Édouard was transferred to CHU Sainte-Justine, where tests revealed genetic heart disease caused by the same gene as his father, who had a heart transplant just a few years earlier. Three weeks later, Édouard was hooked up, day and night, to a mechanical heart, which he fully depended on to live. The following months were full of restrictions, adaptation and waiting. Then, on November 30, 2025, Édouard finally received a new heart. “It’s not virtual or abstract: you see the real impacts donations have when you’re sick. Small things can make a big difference in such extreme situations.”

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the various hospital foundations for their invaluable collaboration. As essential allies of Enfant Soleil, they brighten the lives of families affected by illness.
