This year, the Laurentides region is receiving more than $86,000 to improve the care journey and overall health of children in the region.
Enfant Soleil helps more than 100 healthcare facilities across the province and provides invaluable support to the four major pediatric centres, which give specialized and sub-specialized care to any child who needs it.

Adapted furniture and rehabilitation equipment
- Having access to quality care close to home makes a big difference in the lives of the children and their families. Thanks to the addition of adapted furniture and rehabilitation equipment at different CISSS service points in the region, children living with an intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder or a physical disability will be able to receive excellent rehabilitation services tailored to their needs without having to travel far from home.
2 phototherapy lamps
- Jointly funded with Santé Québec*, these lamps treat jaundice, a condition affecting around 60% of full-term newborns and up to 80% of premature babies. With the light covering a larger surface area, babies will be able to receive effective, comfortable care, helping them go home sooner.
2 light indicators that detect decibels and sound
- For the 1,700 premature and full-term babies hospitalized each year, this indicator, which lights up when noise exceeds the recommended thresholds, will ensure a calm environment vital for the proper neurological development of newborns.
*2025–2026 funding made possible through an agreement initiated with the ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux.
Helping grown-ups improve young lives
Discover the projects financed by the Sport and Sustainable Health Fund (SSHF)
The SSHF aims to promote and support healthy lifestyle habits in children through sports, physical activity and healthy eating while also fostering emotional and mental well-being. This fund will help two childcare centres in the region carry out their projects:
Kick scooters and tricycles
- Kick scooters and tricycles let children burn energy in a fun way while fostering their overall development. This equipment helps improve their balance and coordination while building their strength and perseverance.
Motor skill circuit
- Approximately 60 children will benefit from a motor skill circuit designed to enrich their outdoor playtime. This structured, stimulating and safe space will give every child a chance to tackle the challenges at their own pace while building their autonomy and confidence, working their balance and coordination and having positive interactions with others.

Édouard Bélanger, Enfant Soleil for Laurentides
Édouard and his family are brilliant ambassadors who courageously share their story and reality.
Édouard was born on December 31, 2014, with a very serious heart defect. In his very first days, he underwent open-heart surgery, the first of many. His daily life revolved around treatments, medical check-ups and restrictions. In 2019, an infection worsened his condition and his heart weakened dangerously. By 2020, a transplant was his only chance for survival. After an anxious wait, a compatible heart was finally available to him. The surgery was nerve-wracking, but Édouard hung on. Today, he enjoys life with more energy, taking anti-rejection medication daily. A passionate soccer player and lover of geography Édouard is a joyful child who is enjoying his new lease on life.
