« I had the privilege of experiencing my very first Enfant Soleil Telethon as a host this year, and I can say this experience touched me far beyond what I imagined.
For a long time, I was involved with Enfant Soleil out of gratitude. I was fortunate not to have a seriously ill child in my circle, and for me, it was a way of giving back. Then, my involvement took on a much more personal dimension when my nephew experienced serious breathing difficulties at birth. He nearly didn't survive, and without Enfant Soleil, his story could have turned out very differently.
That's also why I agreed to take part in the Telethon. As an artist, connecting with people is part of who I am. I wanted to put that strength to work for a cause that is deeply close to my heart.
What touched me the most that day were the meetings with the children. I discovered that many of them knew my songs. Seeing their smiles, their enthusiasm, and the sparkle in their eyes when we met was precious. Those moments remind us why we're all gathered together: for them.
I was also deeply moved to see former Enfants Soleil come back to the Telethon to make a donation or take part in the show. Seeing them healthy, thriving, and giving back in turn is a wonderful testament to the impact of the generosity of Quebecers.
And what can I say about the final result! I was both happy and impressed. In the current context, one might think it would be harder for people to give, but once again, people showed up. This wave of solidarity reminds me that sick children can count on us. »
