Did you know that donating publicly traded shares is as kind as it is smart, both advantageous for the giver while greatly helping sick children?
Why donate shares?
Donating shares allows you to help sick children in a planned, strategic way.
- Easy and effective
Donating securities is easy to do. A simple communication with Enfant Soleil is all it takes to provide the necessary information to your broker, who will then handle the transfer of the designated securities to Enfant Soleil, and that’s it. The organization will then issue a charitable tax receipt for the value of your donation.
- Flexibility
Note that a gift by will or the creation of a personal or family endowment fund can also be made by donating shares.
- A winning choice
Donating shares is more advantageous than donating the proceeds from selling them. Since there is no capital gain, it eliminates the tax you would have to pay on their sale. The money that would have gone to taxes instead goes directly to the cause you support. It's a win-win!

Example of a share donation calculation
In this example, by transferring your securities to Enfant Soleil with a value of $10,000, you eliminate the capital gains tax that would have been $1,500.

Steps to take to make your donation
See how easy it is to complete your gift. If you have any questions at any stage, contact our team — we’re here to support you.
Complete the securities transfer form and send it to Catherine Huard by email at chuard@enfantsoleil.ca. This step may require prior discussions with your financial planner or broker to identify the securities you wish to donate.
Once the completed form has been received, the planned giving team at Enfant Soleil will contact you to confirm the acceptance of the securities, in accordance with its gift management and acceptance policy. The duly signed form will then be returned to you as soon as possible.
Inform your broker so they can proceed with transferring the securities to Enfant Soleil’s brokerage account.
Enfant Soleil will issue a charitable tax receipt for your donation, based on the value of the securities on the date they are received in its brokerage account.

Each year, Enfant Soleil supports more than a hundred projects in healthcare centres and organizations across Quebec to improve the care given to children. The sums entrusted to us are used to finance the equipment, treatment and facilities where thousands of children are cared for each year, and to ensure the sustainability of the support offered to the medical teams who care for them.
Your donation helps sick children and vulnerable babies like Jules
Jules wound up in intensive care at just six days old. His white blood cell count was abnormally low, so he was rushed to the hospital by ambulance in the middle of the night. The tiny four-pound baby was hooked up on all sides: antibiotics, antivirals, a hydration tube, breathing tube, feeding tube... After six days, Jules regained his colour and his appetite and was able to reunite with his twin brother, Marin, who was waiting for him back at home. Today, at seven months old, he's a bright little fellow who marvels at everything and anything.
Your donation helps children like Jules by enabling teams at pediatric centres and regional hospitals to give them the best care when they need it. Your generosity shines through where children can benefit: cozy, comfortable rooms and cutting-edge medical equipment, adapted to their size, to soften the harshness of treatments or reduce the length of care or the time spent in the hospital.
